TURKMENISTAN JOINS PROTOCOL ON THE PROTECTION OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS.

On July 13, 2024, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Law «On Accession to the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention of September 9, 1994». The Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs was adopted on September 9, 2019, at a diplomatic conference in Nur-Sultan (currently known as Astana).

With Turkmenistan’s accession, all member states of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) will become parties to the Protocol. This complete membership opens up the possibility for EAPO to join the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

In accordance with Article 22(4) of the Protocol on Protection of Industrial Designs, this international treaty will enter into force for Turkmenistan three months after submitting the instrument of accession with the depository.
